When to see a doctor straight away

See a doctor promptly if:

  • Rapidly spreading, hot, painful redness with fever
  • Eczema with suddenly appearing blisters and fever
  • Blisters on the skin and mucous membranes with fever, e.g. after a new medicine
  • A mole changes size, shape or colour, or bleeds

What you can do yourself

  • Moisturise daily

Emollients strengthen the skin barrier, even when symptoms are absent.

  • Wash gently

Lukewarm rather than hot showers, mild products without fragrance.

  • Avoid triggers

Avoid scratchy fabrics, irritants and heavy sweating. Use sun protection.
